Michele Mancioppi
Chief Architect, Head of Open Source and CommunityMichele Mancioppi is co-founder, Chief Architect, and Head of Open Source and Community at Dash0, where he works on making OpenTelemetry-native observability effortless. He has spent well over a decade in observability: as a staff engineer at SAP, where leading a company-wide observability effort for the SAP Cloud Platform first got him hooked; as Senior Technical Product Manager at Instana, shaping distributed tracing and agent technology across a dozen language ecosystems; and as product manager for observability at Canonical and Lumigo before co-founding Dash0.
Michele hates bad software in a personal fashion, and thinks easy-to-use and powerful observability tools is the best way to help people out there do better and better software. But adopting observability is still far from easy. Which is why Michele is a maintainer in the OpenTelemetry project, where he co-leads the Injector and Packaging SIGs — the efforts to make instrumenting applications as simple as installing a system package — and contributes to the semantic conventions. He co-created OTelBin, the visual editor for OpenTelemetry Collector configurations, and the Instrumentation Score, an open specification for measuring telemetry quality.
As public speaker, Michele has presented at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon and Observability Day in Europe and North America.
